Rapak announced that its Union City-California facility has been certified by the American Institute of Baking International (AIB) for complying with established regulatory standards and food safety practices.
AIB’s Consolidated Standard Inspection of Food-Contract Packaging facilities, measures compliance to key requirements that assures the safety and wholesome of packaging materials, and provider’s adherence to a food-safe processing environment. These standards are based on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), common regulatory requirements and food safety practices.
AIB’s audit to Rapak’s Union City facility was conducted in April of 2012, and the plant attained a Superior level score of 935 (out of 1000).
AIB was originally founded in 1919 by the North American wholesale, retail and baking industries. However, the AIB institute is currently servicing various segments of the food processing, distribution, foodservice, and retail industries worldwide.
The organization is committed to protecting the safety of the global food supply chain by delivering high value educational and technical programs to food providers, and by conducting food safety inspections, audits and certification.
