Rapak, working closely together with Toury in France, has created an outstandingly innovatory bag-in-box 3 litre pack for Cidou orange juice. This achievement has been recognised with the 2004 World Juice Award for Best Innovation in Processing and Packaging.
Cidou launched the new pack early in 2004 and there are now 3 and 5 litre versions of the pack containing juice from concentrate, juice not from concentrate, orange juice and multi-fruit juice.
The pack offers new benefits for consumers :
- Shelf-life of up to 5 weeks after opening
- Much greater convenience as it fits securely inside a standard fridge.
- Distributors and retailers also benefit from the new format with the option to choose from 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 litre capacities.
- Juice remains in perfect condition for 9 months unopened and the box itself allows for high impact branding to attract the consumer's attention at the point-of-sale.
The technology behind this innovatory pack is also in a class of its own. Intasept® is the only method which achieves product transfer sterility throughout the filling process, offering the
security of heat-sealed closure both before and after filling and the assurance of a sterile and completely enclosed product transfer path.
Toury invested in two 2600E Intasept® fillers for the launch and these are the first twin-head fully automatic Intasept® fillers for 3 litre and 5 litre capacities. They have the first fully automatic tap insertion after fill and incorporate the first fully automatic packing line for 3 litres.
